What are we?
In short, the answer to your prayers if you are moving an existing business or starting up a new business.
This is a completely free service from a not-for-profit organisation which blends the best of the commercial sector with the quality you need to make sure you get the best advice.
EVEN more important, because many of the suppliers we have sourced can offer exclusive discounts or extras, you can stretch your office move budget even further.
Why Use Mersey Moves?
When you are moving offices or looking for premises, you have to do an awful lot of legwork. See our A to Z for the types of businesses you may need to contact.
Some of it you can do yourself. If it’s a small office move, then you may just need a man-and-a-van and you can get the rest done yourself.
BUT Don’t Make The Big Mistake Many Make
Underestimating just how much needs to be done is common. Time is money. And if you spend an awful lot of your time on the move - organising it, planning it, getting everyone to synchronise perfectly, you will soon discover that you have taken your eye off your business.
Quality Assured Service Providers
You may have been recommended to someone who can organise your IT for example. But if you pick up the Yellow Pages to find someone to look after your telephones, you are taking a chance.
Get Rid Of The Risk And Use Recommended And Vetted Specialists
Mersey Moves is a consortium of like-minded companies who have worked with the best AND the worst of service providers involved in office moves.
That’s why everyone who is involved must adhere to a strict code of conduct. In addition, we also make sure that we have had references sent directly to us from FIVE clients who have:
1) Used them
2) Been pleased with their service
3) Are happy to recommend them
4) And are happy to have their name quoted as an advocate

During our formative stages, we are welcoming applications from any businesses in the categories in our (click next phrase to see) A to Z of approved supplier categories.

Below is our list of approved suppliers. Each supplier has provided us with references from their clients so you know that they’re good at what they do. They’re more than happy to help you and each supplier ihas a special offer just for you.
Where we have a vacancy for an approved supplier we are inviting suggestions and referees to businesses that can assist with an office move.
The categories are:
Accountant. Perhaps more appropriate when you are starting out, someone to help you plan and budget for your move.
Architect. Often when considering an office move, a company can consider owning their own premises or as is sometimes the case, purchasing and developing upon their own land.
Art. Especially in new premises, you can make a fantastic first impression or make a statement by having either a unique piece of art commissioned, or even rent. From a print to an oil painting in reception, through to a sculpted masterpiece in reception, even the smallest of businesses can benefit.
Call Answering. Ideal for any down-time while you are moving, someone to answer your calls either during the interim or maybe even as a permanent or partial (over-spill calls) solution.
Electrician. Will everyone who needs one, have power? Will they need more than is currently there? An electrician is often needed to relocate or add new sockets.
Furnishing And Interior Decoration. Where will everyone sit? And what will it look like? An expert to help you plan and design your office layout and perhaps internal partitioning is useful. Also someone to help you source and specify the right furnishings.
Insurance Broker. To make sure you have office/contents and public liability cover for both your new location and to cover you for any risks during the move.
IT And Office Equipment. Expertise to help you move or install and configure your IT equipment in your new base.
Letting Agents. To help you find the ideal place to locate to.
Locksmith. Often forgotten, but designated keyholders or perhaps all of your staff will need a set of keys to access your new office.
Office Equipment Supplies. Photocopiers, printers and any other general office machinery you may need to consider for your move.
Plumbing. Anything from heating, new sinks, toilets, through to plumbing in a shower a plumber could well be on your list.
Printing. Business cards and letterheads not only need to be changed to reflect the new address, but even if theren’t any major design changes, you will need a minor tweak and re-print.
Project Management. Bringing the whole project together by using a specialist because of the sheer scale, or if you are smaller using a manager so you can remain focused can pay real dividends and definitely relieve the stress of a move.
Recruitment. You may need to recruit if your prospective office move is related to expansion or you need your first staff.
Removal Specialists. Have all of your furniture or machinery moved into your new base.
Secretarial Services / Typing. To keep your document production flowing during any down-time or to assist more permanently as either cover for holidays or more busy periods. Document Direct are giving away a free digital dictation system so that you can have access to their secretaries 24 hours a day.
Security / Alarms. What is the security like? Will you need an alarm? Will it lower your insurance?
Signs. For the front of the building, the main entrance to your premises, your company vehicles etc.
Solicitor. To advise you on terms of the lease before you sign and make sure you avoid any nasty surprises in future years.
Stationery & Other Literature Design. You may need new letterheads, compliment slips, or a re-print of your brochures to reflect the address change. Again, it’s a great opportunity to review what you have and update it.
Support Agencies. Connections into local organisations who can assist with funding or other support.
Telephones And Cabling. You will need to consider sockets for both computer and telephone points, moving or supplying a new system and also whether you want Internet-based telephones for home-workers or to connect to another branch.
Training. You will need to consider any other issues this change has instigated. New staff may need training. The change may coincide with a need to review your systems.
Web-site Design. When you move office, you may need some tweaks to an existing website (new address, a positive announcement about what the move means). Or simply to take the opportunity to freshen up an existing site or if you are starting out, getting one set up in the first place.

Mersey Moves prides itself on the quality and reliability of the companies that we recommend.
Because we receive no payments from any of them, we make sure firstly people are vetted before they are allowed to participate, and secondly that they continue to adhere to our ethics.
Pre-Qualification Criteria
1. Quality of Service. Each participant must offer an excellent service demonstrating good organisational and planning skills (vital in office moves)
2. Clear Pricing. Each participant must always be clear about pricing, with an emphasis of upon advance notice of all known costs, an indication of additional costs which may be incurred, and ensure that additional costs are communicated before they are incurred.
3. Communication. It is vital that companies moving office are kept abreast of the plan in advance to they know what is happening and when. But the very nature of an office move needs flexibility as deadlines can change or unforeseen delays can affect every part of the process. It is therefore essential that any Mersey Move supplier always communicates to the client with any changes of updates on their work.
4. Proven Expertise. We require a direct communication from FIVE of their clients to demonstrate they were happy with the service they received, they adhered to a clear pricing policy, they would be happy to recommend them to others, they would be happy to declare that publicly on these pages.
